SHEMAR MOORE TALKS BIRDS OF PREY
From the October 10, 2002 Issue of Comics Continuum.

Shemar Moore, who plays Det. Jesse Reese in The WB's Birds of Prey, said there will be several new villains in the series.

"You're going to see some of the coolest bad guys you've ever seen," Moore said during an AOL chat on Wednesday night. "That's why (we're) setting this in New Gotham, in the future. Makes us not have to worry about stepping on criminals' toes as you know them because we can create brand new criminals with new powers."

Some of Moore's other comments:

* On "Slick," next week's episode:
"We've got crazy special effects … and Jesse decides he has to go swimming and spend some time in the sauna with the sexy Huntress."

* Will there be a romance between Reese and The Huntress?
"I don't know. I can't give up too much dirt. We'll keep crossing paths and there's definitely an intrigue both ways. There's a lot of cat and mouse right now, but if it's up to me, I'm gonna get my mac on and put my own handcuffs to use."

* Will there be a crossover with Smallville?
"Uh, never say never. Batman's not gone for good. Joker could come back. Superman and Batman could cross paths. I don't know if the timeline works out."

* How long did "Pilot" take to shoot?
"The first show, I shot all my scenes in five days. As you can see, I'm not a huge part of the pilot but you see lot more of me in the days to come. Overall, the entire pilot took about three and a half weeks... but each following episode as we're shooting them now tend to last anywhere from 6-10 days.

* On his character's background:
"My father is supposedly a notorious crime lord and I've strayed from the family to try to do right, but I'm always burdened by the issue of blood being thicker than water, meaning family loyalty. So it may come out that my father is connected to the whole Joker and Dark Villain Empire that once ruled Gotham."
